Challenge to read 100 books in 2010

Today while I was blopping, I stumbled across this blog  where there is a challenge to read 100 books in 2010. I absolutely love reading and really dont do enough of it at the moment. It will be a challenge for me with my incredible ability to procrastinate work and studies, but I am definitely going to join in. I will create a list in my sidebar for all of my books and keep adding as I go on. The nice thing is that you dont have to list your books now, you can just read whatever you like at the time. So, if there are any other readers (books not blogs that is, I think I could finish 100 blogs to read in a week!) out there, why dont you go on over and have a look!

Christmas Preparations

I had a really late start to my Christmas Preparations this year. Last Friday I had not bought anything at all, but now I am pretty much ready. So a checklist of what I have to do before Friday
1) Wrap presents
2) Look at Christmas lights
3) Bake Gingerbread men
4) Buy Andria's present (know what I want, just got to get it)
5) Deliver presents to Andria and the boys
6) Make Trifle
7) Cook gammon on Thursday
8) Decide what I am going to do for a starter
9) Sort out Brendas stocking
10) Get food for Santa
11)Make Gingerbread food
12) Go to Childrens service on Christmas Eve
I think that is all, but I am sure something else will pop up. Brenda is very excited and is driving me a little mad! My sister arrives tomorrow, so have to do as much as possible before then! Hope everyone else is getting there and looking forward to Christmas!

Favourite Foto Friday # 70

I have not done FFF for a while. I have just been too busy and not really had a chance to take many photos. The theme is Making or Baking with Kids. I haven't done any baking this year, and who knows when we will get a chance as things are just so busy at the moment. This photo is from last year. I cant seem to find the others, but you can see the BRIGHT icing we had on our Christmas biscuits!

I passed!

I was thrilled (and slightly shocked) to see on the UNISA website that I passed my 2 exams. Still cannot believe that I passed the second one, it wasnt a brilliant mark, but it was a pass and that is the important thing! Off to register for next years modules!

Funny........or not

On Wednesday night a few friends and I decided to stop off at the Pub on the way home for a meal. I phoned my parents to tell them and they said that when I was ready to leave they would drop Brenda off with me as they were going out. Brenda, on finding this out tells the teacher at Kumon.....
"We are going to fetch my mum from the pub and I am sure she will be drunk!" How can I show my face there again?

Oh dear............

Well, I wrote my last exam for this semester today and what a disaster! The Multiple Choice was horrible, really tricky and as for the essay questions, terrible. There were some good parts and some bad parts, but no good parts together, so I really battled to find a question to actually answer. In the end I just went eeny meeny, miny, mo! Now I am sure I answered the wrong ones! I had worked quite hard but there was just so much, and so many different theories! Oh well, not much I can do about it now apart from start learning for the supplementary!

My favourite thing.................

at the moment is the White Hot Chocolate in the Woolworths Cafe, just decadent!

End of year aims

I was well behaved last night and studied hard, so didnt get to update on here. Work is also hectic, which means that I am really a bit stressed!
Our prompt yesterday was to blog our goals. I have really got a lot going on at the moment, what with the end of the school year, so have quite a few goals. Aside from the obvious one of studying and passing my exam on Monday, I think my main goal is to sort out my bedroom. I am a terrible hoarder and have got so much junk. It has got to the stage where I cant actually find anything! So, now I need to do something about it. I aim to have sorted the room out totally by the start of the school holidays (11 December) It might sound like a long time to sort out one room, but what with the end of the school year, full time lecturing for the next 4 weeks, teachers presents to sort out, stationery to sort out as well as Christmas Cards, presents etc, I think the more time I give myself the better. I will post a before and after picture as soon as I have done it! So watch this space!

Why is it?

That as soon as I remove comment moderation, I get an advert for Viagra! Grrr! I have had a good, but busy weekend. I did manage to get quite a bit of studying done, and cooked a yummy roast chicken for supper tonight. Wont say anything about the vegetables, which  I managed to burn, were lovely and crisp . Oh well, you win some, you lose some. I am off to bed soon, as Brenda has swimming squad at 6:20am tomrrow, so got an early start! Looking forward to tomorrows prompt now. I have learned quite a lot, including how to put my nice new signature on at the bottom of the post. Here is wishing everyone a good week. And please pop over to Mckmama's blog as her little boy needs lots of prayers this week! I have been following her site since she was pregnant with Stellan, and it is truly an incredible story!

Skywatch Friday

Today the prompt was about photos. I have been wanting to join in with Skywatch Friday for a while, but never seemed to remember on a Friday. Today, we had a storm, so I thought the sky afterwards was good for this theme.

This was taken from the top of our driveway, just as the storm was finishing.

Favourite Foto Friday #69

The theme this week for FFF is Black and White. I cannot get either of my photo editing programmes to work tonight, so have gone for an old one which I have on my computer in black and white. I love this photo it was taken about 2 years ago just after Christmas.

So hop on over to Hannah's blog to see some more cute Kiddos!

Little Monkey

It probably sounds quite funny to most of you, but we have a terrible problem with Monkeys in our area! Not all of them are as cute as this little guy!
Every morning and evening they travel over our house, it is quite cute to watch the little babies! They come into the house and steal things, they tease the dogs, eat any fruit growing in the garden, frighten away all the wild birds and have even been known to attack bird cages for seeds. Things that have dissapeared recently  include a packet of biscuits, a sugar bowl, one of Brendas toys and a big packet of sugar that was dropped at the entrance to our kitchen and smashed. The last few weeks have been quite bad, but on Sunday the funniest thing happened. I heard a crash in the kitchen and went running through to the kitchen. Nothing was amiss, but then I heard an indignant screech and something dropped outside. When I went outside a monkey had flung a toy easter egg that Brenda had gotten as a freebie across the driveway! It was quite lifelike, so he must have tried to eat it, only to find it was plastic. He was most indignant and I just wished I had a camera to record the look on his face!

Studying again

I was really unsure of what to blog for todays prompt. This is really the problem with a lot of my blogging. I sit down and can not think of anything, so write nonsense. That is unless I have a project to post. And then it hit me, my studying. This is the major change in my life recently. I have recently started doing a degree correspondence through UNISA. I have known that I had to do it for a while, but put it off because I couldn't really see the point in doing it! I started a new job in March last year and then was promoted to lecturer shortly after that. Unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending on your viewpoint) it is a requirement of my job that I either have this qualification or go about getting it, which really is what gave me the final prod to do it. Wow, what a culture shock it has been. So much work to do, which I being a very lazy student at the best of times, have really battled to fit in. It has been nice to be learning new stuff, and I can also see how I can use it at work, but it is really hectic to fit it in. I am also quite nervous as to how much I am actually able to take in and retain. Next year I plan on taking more subjects too, so things are about to get busier! I have been doing it with my friend Andria, and although we have not got around to getting together much, it is nice to have her on the other end of the line for moral support! I wrote my first exam for 16 a few years the other day, and it was really wierd to be on the other end of the table lol. I have one more exam on the 16 November, and then we start the long wait for the results. It is quite scary being a student again, and I will say that it was definitely easier the first time round!

Blogging for Scrapbookers

For those that have seen it on my sidebar, I have joined Shimelle's Blogging for Scrapbookers Class. I love Shimelles classes, even though I have not quite finished the last one that I did. I really think that I will be able to get somewhere with this one though, as I do spend a fair bit of time at the computer, so should be able to do the posts. I hope that I will learn a lot in this class about blogging and Blogger. I have already learned a few things, and it has only just started! I was supposed to do this page last night, but my computer was running a bit slow, so only posted it now!

Favourite Foto Friday # 68

Here we are again with FFF. The theme for this week is adventure. I decided to post before and after pictures

of Brendas school trip. I didnt send her with a camera because last years one was stolen so I dont have any pictures from there, but she came home very happy and excited. Not to mention, filthy and covered in bruises lol. For more great pictures, pop on over to Hannah's blog.

My FFF this week is from Brendas school play in September, Annie. Hop on over to Hannah's blog and seem some more cute kids, proper theme this week is orange.

By the way, this is about the closest Brenda ever gets to cleaning lol

This photo is from about this time, of my sister and Brenda. Pop on over to Hannah's blog and see some more gorgeous kiddos in FFF.

Favourite Foto Friday # 66

This is the last week that Sarah will be doing FFF, but it will continue next week with Hannah. These pictures were taken last weekend. We have had some miserable weather lately, so Brenda has spent a lot of time inside. I came into our lounge, only to find this: She had somehow found this old trainset which she was given for her first birthday party and had set it up. She played for about an hour and has played with it twice since then. (Today was the first day it did not rain at all for 2 weeks!)

I took this picture, because she used to sit in the middle of the train set and play with it when she was 1, lol!

Oh, and see the scooter in the background! How do you convince them to keep it outside. I have tried everything and after a few weeks it always comes back in lol.

Favourite Foto Friday #65

I missed last week because Brenda was sick and I just didnt get a chance. She had an ear infection and severe sinusitis. She missed all the inner ear infections when she was younger, (has had lots of outer ear infections), but seems to be making up for it now. This was the third one in 6 months. Thankfully she is better now, and played hockey for the first time today and now has a game tomorrow morning. Tomorrow will once again be hectic. Hockey, then tennis, then musical practice. She doesnt do that many activities, but they all seem to be in the third term :-) These photos were taken a few weeks ago at Mini Town in Durban. I always loved it as a child, but havent taken Brenda before. Unfortunately, it was a miserable day but was nice all the same.
With my mom and dad.
I just love this picture, I thought the little tug looked so real!

Favourite Foto Friday returns

I have not been around much for the last little while, but neither has Sarah , so with the return of FFF I have decided to start up where I left off before things got chaotic. These photos were taken at the bird park a few weeks ago. It is closing down at the end of the month so we have been trying to go as much as possible.

I claim no responsibility for the state of Brenda's fringe!
Lastly a photo of the two newest members of our family. My sister has had to move and could no longer keep them, so we have taken them in. The little tabby went in to be fixed on Wednesday, and has already pulled her stitches out. So lots of fun happening here!

Things have been really busy here between work and school, in fact Brenda has a hockey match at 7:30 tomorrow morning! So much for my Saturday lie in!

Update on life

I know that I have been very scarce the last few months, so just thought to pop in and do a proper update. Well, as proper as it is going to get! Brenda and I have both been fine lately, just really busy. I am finding that Brendas homework seems to grow by the day so not much time to do anything in the evening. This week she has two tests and a project to do, last week she had a test and a project to finish. Two weeks ago she went to Johburg to stay with Dayle for an engagement party. She seemed to have a wonderful time, I stayed at home and went to a childs birthday party! Something seems a bit wrong here! Otherwise she has been keeping busy with netball, swimming and tennis. They have holidays for 3 weeks from the end of June, so that should give her a bit of a break.
I have also been busy at work, but got a week of no students this week so hopefully will be able to catch up. I am once again on a strict diet as I have a school reunion in September, so need to lose some weight before then. I havent really been doing much, but would like to go to the Royal Show next weekend. My sister may be here for the rest of the week which will be nice, as it is the first time she has been down since Christmas. She is no longer working for Flight Centre, and is looking for a job at the moment.
I think that that is all my news, what there is of it, will try and update more in future.

Favourite Foto Friday # 63

The theme for this weeks FFF is Mom. I havent got any recent pictures of me and Brenda, so here is my mom and Brenda taken a few months ago now on the beach. Things here have been really busy again. Brenda is back at school and things should start settling now after all the long weekends and other holidays in April. This is the first full week we have worked for 4 weeks. No wonder I am feeling so tired this week.Got no plans as yet for Mothers Day, or none that I know about any way! I hope that all the moms reading this have a great Mothers Day!

Am back again after a few weeks of being MIA. Just havent really felt like I had anything to say on here. We have had so many holidays here lately that I just feel a bit out of sorts. This weeks theme for FFF is RUN, so since we havent had any sports days this year, here is a photo from last years Sports Day.

Favourite Foto Friday # 61

Well, it seems like I am becoming a regular monthly poster! Things have been hectic here what with Brenda's school functions, my work commitments and my course commitments. Thankfully the course is finished now, just got to wait for my results. Brenda is in Johburg for a week with my sister soI am getting a chance to get caught up. These photos were taken last week at The WaveHouse. Brenda was too scared to go on her own initially, so the lifeguards were going with her, but by the end of the day she went on her own. Sorry they are a bit dark, it was really very hot and bright.
