Favourite Photo Friday # 37

The theme for this Friday is Friends. These are also older pics, but those are the best friends arent they? The first one is our neighbour Angelique and Brenda. Angelique moved in next door when Brenda was 4. Angelique spoke only Afrikaans, and Brenda spoke only English, but they played together so beautifully for ages. It was only when they began to understand each other that the fighting began. They have been friends since then, and are still friends now! The next one is at Brends 5th birthday and includes the 2 kids from across the road. The four of them were friends for ages, and all got on so well together.

Last but not least I have Brenda with my best friends niece and nephew, Megan and Jonathan, as well as her friend from Grade 2 Sarah. This was one of those days when we decided on the spur of the moment to go to the beach, and the kids had an absolute ball!

Award

I have been tagged by Annette, who is the most amazing crafter! As far as I can see I must answer the following questions:
10 Years ago: I had just gone back to work after having Brenda. I had split up from Dion my ex, but we were getting on amazingly well at the time.
5 things to do today:
1. Gym - tick
2. Take Brenda to tennis - tick
3. Shopping - tick
4. Washing - not done, too much time on here.
5. Start preparing for lectures for 3 weeks time.

Snacks I enjoy: cheese, chocolate, crisps, pizza, samoosas (anything really)

Places I have lived: La Lucia, Durban, London, Scotland (very short time!)

What I would do if I was a millionaire: Pay off all my debts, buy a house, and travel the world. Set my parents up too.

So now I have to tag 5 people: Debz, Elaine, Enfys,
Bee,
Debs
Linda

Sarah is away at the beach this week, so we are left to our own devices. Havent taken any this week since I am back to work, so I have chosen one from May. We were at the Royal Show and there was an army stand. They had tanks, helicopters etc. Brenda dint want to go because she said it was a boys thing, but when she did go, she absolutely loved climbing all over the tanks and I couldnt get her off. So here she is on top of a tank!

Back to the grindstone!

Been back at work for 2 days now, and it feels like I have never left! This week has been quite good though, and so far no major problems, so I cant complain. Just the 5am starts are a bit much again, especially since it is still dark then. Oh well, summer will be here soon. Brenda is back at school too so things are really back to normal! Didnt do much over the weekend. Saturday just popped to the shops, Sunday went to church in the evening and Brenda and I spent the rest of the day making cards. I have bought marking home this week, so that is keeping me busy too! There will be an announcement coming up soon, but keeping quiet for now!

The theme for FFF this week is Red, White and Blue in honour of the 4th of July. Since we dont have that here, I went for something different. This is Brenda ice skating yesterday at the Ice Rink. Don't think that I am a terrible mother, she did start off warmly dressed, but insisted on taking her jacket off as she said she was hot!

If you want to see some gorgeous kiddies all dressed up, or ifyou would like to join in, pop on over to Sarah's blog!

Holiday

Had a relaxing day yesterday to make up for Monday. Brenda told me she wants to go again next week. I definitely need to get fitter before I try again. Did this in the morning,
and finished a book in the afternoon, The good guy by Dean Koontz.
Today we went to see Prince Caspian, which we both thoroughly enjoyed, and then had a chocolate Cinnabon for lunch - delicious!

Lovely day, but I must be mad

Brenda has been nagging me ages to go for a picnic again, so today I decided to take her to the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve, which is about 45 minutes from here. I haven't been for years, and Brenda has never been, so it was all new. We started out at a view spot, where Bernda suddenly decided she was scared of heights! This was news to me, as she has never shown signs of this, so I was not allowed to go within 50 metres of the edge, so didnt get to see the Gorge properly from there. Then we went down to the carpark and started our walk. Here is Brenda at the bridge at the start of the walk.
Being very unfit I chose the shortest walk, thinking it would be the easiest - bad move!!!!! It was supposed to take 45 minutes, but took us just over 2 hours. The walking part probably was about 45 minutes, but there were 4 or 5 vertical climbs during that time.
This is one of the milder slopes where I could actually take a moment to take a photo!

Brenda at the waterfall, the picture above shows what we had to climb over.

At last, back to solid earth!

Brenda still found energy for climbing trees at the end of it!

I am off to bed and not sure if I will get up tomorrow or not!

The theme for FFF this week is Shake your groove thing. This is the only photo I have of Brenda dancing on the computer, so it will have to do. This was at a Christmas Party a few years ago.
