Still here

Sorry that I have once again dissapeared off the face of the earth for a bit. Or, should that be more than a bit? Things have been so busy here both at work and at home that I just have not been able to get on here to post much, and to be honest just have not had the motivation to do it. I have periodically been checking up on my blogs that I read though. I see the last time I have done a proper post was in January, so I will give you a brief run-down of what has been happening. That is of course if their is still anyone out there.
Brenda went back to school in January and to be honest she is not having a great year. While she got the teacher she wanted they dont really seem to have clicked and she is not really enjoying the year at all. She always seems to be getting into trouble for petty things but when I talk to the teacher she has glowing reports, so not really sure what is going on. Her report was not bad at all except for Afrikaans and Zulu which were not great!
Work has been really busy and with my company being 21 years old we have been having lots of functions etc which basically means the boss says organise it with no money and we scurry around like worker bees getting it all done! Very stressful, hopefully it is all finished now except for Graduation in July. I went to Johannesburg on a conference for 3 days in March. I missed Brenda but tbh, not as much as I thought it would. It just felt wierd being the one to go away for a change. It was really nice to get to know all the staff from the other campuses and put names to faces. Oh yes, that is what I forgot, the functions arent over, the next one is that we have to organise the next conference which will be here in September!
In amongst all of this, I have been studying too! Did 2 subjects again this semester which I wrote last week. I think the exams went ok, so now I have to sit here waiting for results.
Brenda only has a few weeks left of this term and then she is off for the July holidays, they have an extra long one because of the world cup, so I will probably take a week off to spend some time with her!
Well that is all for now, but I promise to be back sometime soon!

It's Monday, what are you reading?

Hosted by Sheila
I have been so busy for the last 2 weeks, which is why there have been no posts. I was away for 3 days last week and that really impacted on my reading. I finished The Third Secret, which was really enjoyable. Steve Berry is one of my favourites  (mind you, I have a lot of favourites). I am now half way through The Great Hunt and The Killing Kind. Things will probably be busy for another week or 2, but I hope to be back more full time after that.

It's Monday, what are you reading?

I had a really busy week and so didnt get to read that much this week. And, then, to add to that, the one book I started reading I just could not get into. That is very unusual for me, because usually once I have started a book, even if I am not enjoying it that much, I still want to see what happens. That one was The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larrson. Ironically the person who recommended it told me it was the best book she had ever read! I may pick it up again in a few months and see what I think then.
Once I abandoned that I moved onto The seventh sacrament by David Hewson, which I thoroughly enjoyed and finished in under 24 hours! Now I am reading The Third Secret by Steve Berry, and then tomorrow night is my bookclub, so I will decide what to read next after I have been there.

Its Monday what are you reading this week?

Hosted by Sheila
Well, this has been my slowest reading week so far this year. I have only managed to read 2 books! HOWEVER, this does take me to 20 books so far this year, so I think that is quite good. I am a fifth of my way through the 100 books challenge.
The first book I read was Having the builders in by Reah Tannahill. Real, light easy reading and funny! One that you can pick up and put down with ease, just what I need at the moment.
The second book was the total opposite! When will there be good news? by Kate Atkinson.  I last read her books a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed them. I enjoyed the story line on this one, I liked all the small threads and the fact that they were tied up in the end. I loved the characters, but I didnt like the way you never seemed to get anywhere with the story line until the end! All in all I enjoyed it, but I dont think it is one I would read again if that makes sense!
That is all for last week, and I have just started The girl with the dragon tattoo, cant remember the author.

Its Monday what are you reading this week?

It seems like this is the only thing I am doing with my blog at the moment. I have just been really busy, but will be back soon. You may notice a different picture for this week, that is because this meme has been taken over by Sheila
I have only managed to finish 3 books this week, although I am halfway through another one. The first one was From the Two Rivers which is the first half of the first book in the Eye of the world series (see sidebar). I have to wait for the second half to come back to the library. This is one of my two favourite series of all time. Even though this is the third time that I am reading this it still amazes me that I get new things from it each time.
The second book was Queen Camilla Years ago the Adrian mole series was so popular and I loved them all. I also read The Queen and I at this stage, but had never seen this book before. I just love that her books are so funny with no regard for what she writes, totally unbelieveable, but hilarious none the same.
Lastly I read The Charlemagne Pursuit by Steve Berry. This was my mums Christmas present and I have been dying to get my hands on it since then, and it was well worth the wait.

I am busy reading Getting the Builders in by Reah Tannahill, although I am enjoying it, I am finding it a little slow, but am enjoying it.

Its Monday what are you reading this week?

I am enjoying this meme from J Kaye's blog, it is nice to see all sorts of different books! This week I have only managed to read one book, Devil's Brood by Sharon Penman. Sharon is the author that got me into straight historical novels. I love the way she writes and how she really gets you involved in the characters. The first time I read one of her books I only realised at the end that it was actually a true story. I can thoroughly recommend her. However, they are definitely not light reads.
This week I will be reading From the two rivers by Robert Jordan, and then will see what next once I have finished that.

Its Monday, What are you reading this week?

This week has been a fairly good week, I have managed to read 3 books. Considering things are hectic at work, I think that is quite good.
Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella. This is my first one of her books that I have read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely read more.
Second Glance by Jodi Picoult. I havent really enjoyed the last few of her books that I have read, but this one was excellent. She really draws you in to the characters and makes you part of their lives. Well worth it.
Without Warning by Carol Smith. I havent read one of Carol's books for a while and this one was brilliant. Although I did guess who the killer was about halfway through, she really keeps you going right until the end. I love the way you never really know what is going to happen with each character.
At the moment I am reading Devils Brood by Sharon Penman and will start on World without end next.
