My hometown

I had a request a week or so ago to give some information and pictures about where I live. We live on the East Coast of South Africa on the outskirts of Durban, which has about 3 million residents. The area where I live, which is Umhlanga is one of the fastest growing areas in the country, not that I think that is always a good thing! Our province (Kwazulu Natal) has such a diverse scenery and so much to do. We have a long coastline, game reserves about 2 hours to the north of us, and mountains about 2 hours to the west, so there is really a lot to offer. The first two pictures are from the Botanic Gardens
These 2 are both of Umhlanga Beach, not the main one, which I dont generally go to because it is always full of tourists, but the closest one to our house.

This one is Brenda at Gateway shopping centre which is the largest shopping centre in the Southern Hemisphere.

Durban has an amazing climate apart from February and March which is very, very hot and humid. The best months are probably the winter months, the weather is still warm and sunnyenough to wear t-shirts and shortsin the daytime and sometimes at night. The coldest we ever get to at night is about 6C, and that is not very often anyway. Brenda swims outside right through the year, although I find the water too cold in winter.
I have also put two slideshows on. The first one is pictures from Kwazulu Natal, starting off with Durban, then the Drakensberg mountain range, and going up into Lesotho, then a couple of Hluhluwe (shla-shloo-we)in the north and Oribi George in the south.

The second one is the Cape Province. I couldnt find that many of the rest of the country and these are the only ones that I have on my computer.

Hope you enjoyed these.

Thanks for fulfilling my request. I live in Frankfort, KY - USA. I have only been to Canada, France and England - and OMG, how could I forget Guatemala??? I also have a step-son who is Japanese-American. He visits Japan with his mom, but I have not been yet. I love learning about different geological places, as well as different cltures, traditions, norms, etc. Maybe we should do a FFF about our hometown??

Peace and Hugs,
Becca

Oh my goodness what a beautiful place to live!!!!! We're kind of homebodies. We had never been out of the US until we adopted our daughter from Guatemala. Visiting Guatemala opened such a door for us though, and now we cannot wait to explore the rest of this beautiful world. :)
